Toll Gate High School is thrilled to celebrate Dr. Sharon A. Franco, who officially earned her Ph.D. from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island on May 15, 2025!
During the course of her studies, Dr. Franco focused on how women have used music over time to gain economic, political, social empowerment and autonomy. Her research highlighted the medieval abbess, Hildegard of Bingen, the twentieth century Egyptian singer, Umm Kulthum, as well as twenty-first century female Arab rap artists.
